Agnieszka Brzeżańska

Born in 1972 in Gdańsk. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and Warsaw in the Painting Studio of Prof. Stefan Gierowski, as well as at the Tokyo University of the Arts (Geidai) under a Japanese Government Scholarship. Her work encompasses painting, drawing, photography, film, and ceramics. Brzeżańska draws upon various registers of knowledge, ranging from physics and philosophy to systems of cognition marginalized by modern science, such as alchemy, parapsychology, esotericism, indigenous knowledge, or matriarchal traditions. Since 2016, together with Ewa Cieplewska, she has been organizing Flow/Przepływ – an artistic residency on the Vistula River. In 2024, Agnieszka Brzeżańska was honored with the Annual Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the field of Visual Arts.

She collaborates with the BWA Warszawa gallery and NANZUKA in Tokyo.
