Mathis Esnault

Mathis Esnault creates narratives balancing between observation and fiction, weaving memories, anecdotes, and fantastic motifs into stories about the relationships between living beings and the territories they inhabit. In his works, reality undergoes transformation, forms deform, and hybrid, almost fairy-tale-like characters gradually come to the fore.
The artist's practice develops at the intersection of sculpture, performance, and writing. Drawing from the aesthetics of fantasy, role-playing games, and magic rituals, Esnault builds his own universes in which what is invisible, marginal, or difficult to explain becomes tangible. His works function as fragments of alternative ecosystems—simultaneously tender, strange, and unsettling.
Born in 1999 in Laval, France, Mathis Esnault lives and works in Strasbourg. He is a visual artist trained in the field of glass art; in 2022, he graduated with a master's degree from EESAB Rennes, and he also holds a Glassmaker Creator diploma obtained at CERFAV in Vannes-le-Châtel.
The works of the artists presented during the Dreams of Gdynia festival are available for purchase.
