Michał Majchrowicz

Michał Majchrowicz, son of Ryszard. Born on Friday, April 13th, 1984, in Gdynia. From the beginning of the 90s, he grew up surrounded by clay due to his father's work at Artur Włodarczyk's Ceramic Workshop in Rumia. After graduating from the Gdynia high school of fine arts, under the guidance of the brilliant teacher Irena Zabrocka, he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where in 2010 he graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture in the studio of Professor Stanisław Radwański, specializing in artistic ceramics under the supervision of Professor Teresa Klaman. Four years after completing his studies, he acquired his first ceramic kiln and began practicing the production of functional ceramics in the form of tableware.
Through a series of various commissions, he collaborated with local ceramic manufacturers, such as Grzegorz Rogiński's Art Workshop in Gniew, and Eugene Trowski's Genius Ceramika workshop in Chmielno (the hub of Kashubian functional ceramics). In 2014, he conducted tile-making workshops during Gdynia Design Days together with Dorota Wnuczyńska from the Mozaiqua studio (currently Yarn Bowl).
In 2016, he established a collaboration with the now-defunct Gdańsk fine dining restaurant Metamorfoza, alongside Matylda Grzelak and Adrian Klonowski. Experiments with the form and presentation of dishes resulting from this collaboration became a gateway to his activity in the gastronomy sector. Since June 2018, he has been running his own business, focused mainly on the handmade production of ceramic tableware for restaurants and interior ceramic projects.
His clients include fine dining restaurants, bistros, cocktail bars, sushi restaurants, and matcha bars in the Tri-City, Poznań, Warsaw, and Kraków. He collaborates with Tri-City design studios of Sylwia Kowalczyk, Helena Pachut, and Maciej Ryniewicz .
In addition to his ceramic practice, he occasionally conducts workshops in pottery, Japanese methods of repairing tableware, and artistic activities with partners such as: Borderland Foundation from Sejny, CSW Łaźnia in Gdańsk, Gdańsk City Gallery, Anna Dymna's "Mimo Wszystko" Foundation, CUMY, Emigration Museum in Gdynia, Bytów Cultural Center.
