Aleksandra Szewczuk

Aleksandra Szewczuk (born 1982 in Gdynia, lives and works in Sopot) – a contemporary painter whose abstract practice explores the relationship between matter and inner experience – encompassing memory, consciousness, and intuitive, subconscious impulses.
Working with acrylic paints on raw, unprimed canvas, she creates layers of transparency and matte, oscillating between presence and absence. Her process is intuitive and meditative – guided by rhythm, repetition, and mindfulness toward the material. Painting becomes for her a contemplative act in which physical experience merges with consciousness.
In her works, she treats painting as a field of experience – a space where the internal meets the external. The paintings function as records of states – captured moments of consciousness in which time and space remain suspended.
Represented by the Spaceless Gallery (Paris / New York), where her works are presented internationally. Her work has been showcased in Poland and abroad, including at the 13th Triennial of Small Painting Forms in Toruń (2019), the 3rd Pomeranian Art Triennial in Sopot (2019), the Leon Wyczółkowski National Painting Competition in Bydgoszcz (2020), the State Gallery of Art in Sopot (2022), the EL Gallery Art Center in Elbląg (2022), the Istota Gallery in Gdynia (2025), the National Exhibition Center in Quebec (2022), during Paris Design Week at Studio Chloé Nègre (2024), at Bergdorf Goodman on 5th Avenue in New York (2024), at 529 Arts in Chelsea (2025), in Paris during Art Basel Week at Reishi House, Maison Veronese, and Maison Leleu (2025), as well as a commission for Louis Vuitton at Harrods in London.
Her works are included, among others, in the collection of the State Gallery of Art in Sopot and in national and international private collections.
This will be the first showcase of the "States" series in Poland, and the presented works have not been previously exhibited.
