Misha Waks is a visual artist whose primary medium is painting. In his practice, he also creates sculptures, installations, performances, and video works. His artistic practice defies simple categorization, relying on the combination of diverse visual languages, materials, and conceptual strategies. In his work, he explores contemporary image culture shaped by the internet, media, and the digital flow of information, analyzing the mechanisms of meaning-making and the impact of images on social and political perceptions of reality.

An important element of his practice is also personal themes, which intertwine with reflections on memory, identity, and the experience of functioning in the modern world. Working across various media, Waks combines a material and conceptual approach, treating art as a space for critical reflection and social dialogue.

The artist lives and works in Warsaw. His works have been presented in exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including “Ban This Show” at Fort Works Art in Fort Worth, “Hidden Organisms” at Studio Jaskółka in Warsaw, and “Spin Doctors” at GG3 in Berlin. He has participated in projects presented alongside the work of artists and collectives such as Guerrilla Girls, Nadya Tolokonnikova, and Swoon.

At the center of his practice is the belief that art can function as a form of activism, a tool for critical thinking, and a medium for social engagement.
